Many Indian’s feel that Indian Government is pushing Aadhaar Card deep down in our throat’s by making it mandatory to link Aadhaar with everything, from our bank account to our Death Certificate. It also raised concern about the Right to Privacy. Though Supreme Court of India gave a benchmark judgement last week and said that ‘Right to Privacy’ is a fundamental right.

The judgment says:

“Life and personal liberty are inalienable rights. These are rights which are inseparable from a dignified human existence. The dignity of the individual, equality between human beings and the quest for liberty are the foundational pillars of the Indian constitution…

Life and personal liberty are not creations of the constitution. These rights are recognised by the constitution as inhering in each individual as an intrinsic and inseparable part of the human element which dwells within.”

Now adding to the woes of Center Government, Wikileaks has claimed that, The United States’ Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is secretly extracting Aadhaar data through ExpressLane, a tool designed by their technology provider, Cross Match Technologies.

“The OTS (Office of Technical Services), a branch of the CIA, has a biometric collection system that is provided to liaison services around the world — with the expectation for sharing of the biometric takes collected on the systems. But this ‘voluntary sharing’ obviously does not work or is considered insufficient by the CIA, because ExpressLane is a covert information collection tool that is used by the CIA to secretly exfiltrate data collections from such systems provided to liaison services,” WikiLeaks said on its website.

The Indian Government has dismissed these claims.
